Editing the User Tree

The User Tree is available to users of LANDESK Mobility Manager. The User Tree allows you view portions of your Active Directory structure and apply profiles directly to a user, user group, or organizational unit.

Before you can edit the User Tree, you must install Mobility Manager on the LDMS core server and configure Avalanche to communicate to the core or CSA.

To add an organizational unit or user to the User Tree:

1  Click the Add User button. The Add User dialog box appears.

The Enable User Targeting option must be selected from the System Settings screen, or the Add User button will not appear as an option.

2  In the search box, type the name of the person, user group, or organizational unit that you want to add and press Enter. There may be a pause while it contacts your Active Directory and presents the search results.

3  Select the correct search result from the list and click Done. The user, user group, or organizational unit appears in a User Tree under the Navigation Tree.

After there are items in the User Tree, you can apply a Smart device profile by dragging it from the Available Profiles panel onto a user, user group, or organizational unit. Profiles that are applied to the User Tree have higher priority than profiles that are applied to the Navigation Tree, and profiles applied to a user take priority over profiles applied to a user group. For example, if there are different passcode payloads applied, the payload with the highest priority (in a profile applied to the user) is applied on the device.
